Being young people who follow Jesus in the U.K. today puts us in the minority. As we look out across assembly halls, playgrounds and classrooms the need for Christ is strikingly clear. Church youth attendances decline, culture drifts further away from the truth and many of those around us will never hear the gospel.
Young people at The Anchor have a desire to share Christ, unlike many they will not sit by and watch their generation pass without knowing God. From the lips of friends, classmates, brothers and sisters the gospel will be spread. The Anchor brings us together to commit to this mission, support each other and be commissioned by God as one spirit filled body.
In the Bible an Anchor is used as a metaphor for hope. Hebrews 6:19 says "we have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure." The souls of our generation need the hope of Christ as the anchor.
The Anchor exists to unite young Christians for the mission of leading their generation to Christ in schools.
As a body of young people we exist within local networks, meeting a strategic, prayerful and communal hubs seeking God and engaging in impactful mission.
The Anchor is a community of young people with a common mission to make Christ known in our generation. Youth from different Schools and Churches drive our vision and run our events.
The Anchor allows us to be united in our pursuit of God and practical mission to reach our peers with the hope of Christ. We want to do something about the huge need for the gospel in our generation.
The Anchor provides a space to encounter God and explore our role in reaching the lost. By coming together we're encouraged and equipped to see others engage with the gospel in our daily lives.
Each local network of The Anchor will gather after school once a month. All of The Anchor networks come together for annual weekends away and conferences.
“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.”
